try the following from the command line:

sudo apt-get install cairo-dock

You can run it from the command line using the following command:

cairo-dock

of from Applications -> Accessories -> Cairo Dock

If you wanna add it to your session so it will open every time you log into your desktop. Open System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications.

Click on Add. Enter "Cairo dock" in the name , "/usr/bin/cairo-dock" in the command. Enter whatever you want in the comment.

Hope that helps :)

cairo dock does not launch by default when you start a new session. To make it start automatically any time you log in, you should do the following:

1) Go to menu "System ==> Preferences ==> Sessions"
2) Click on "+ Add"
3) In the "Command" line write the name of the cairo dock executable: /usr/bin/cairo-dock
4) You may also add a name and comments for you to be able to identify more easily this entry if you come back some other time to the "Sessions" window.
5) Click on "Accept" (or "Ok", or whatever else.)

From that point on, cairo dock shall be launched any time you start a session. No need to reboot, just close your user session and log in again.

Hope this helps,

Hi Halcyclone,

Cairo-Dock v1 isn't maintained now... But there a new v2 with OpenGL support, 3D desklet, many other improvements and many bug fixed, etc => http://www.cairo-dock.org/communique/communique-en.pdf

Test it ;-)

Can you help with this problem?
