How Can I Set Up Raid0 on Existing Ubuntu 18.10

Asked by john gordon

I have Two NVME M.2 Drives ( Samsung Evo 970 250gb ).
I have Ubuntu 18.10 Already Installed on One of Those Drives.
The Second Drive is Not being used at present.
I want to make Use of the Second Drive as Raid0 Along with a considerable Chunk of the First Drive ( The One with The O/S on it).
I am aware of the Risk of data loss if One Drive Fails.
But I want Raid0 for SPEED.
As far as I know it may not be possible to have the existing O/S put Into The New Array, But the System would Perform Better if it was.
I have Tried and succeeded Setting it up with The Alternate CD.
I am not happy with Converting the Server O/S to The Desktop O/S , it Inherits To Much of The Server General Commands.
Is there an Easier way to Do a Clean Install of 18.04 or 18.10 Onto a Raid0 Config.

You could make an image if the current install to a separate file system in liveCD, setup the RAID then put the image onto the array.

You will then need to mess with your fstab to set the disk UUIDs to the new disks and possibly reinstate GRUB to the array and so forth

Personally I'd go for a clean install on a new array then restore your user data from your backups
