No internet connection 8.10

Asked by clombard

I upgraded to 8.10 and lost my connection. No eth0 no default no wireless.
When I run in recovery mode it hangs up on (of all things) Network interfaces!
I know there was some command to get it all working but I do not know what it is.
The connection icon has a red x in it and says "no valid active connection found"
Can not configure connection. None found.
Can anyone help...dead in the water?
Thank you.

During the "upgraded" to 8.10 A couple of error messages appeared on the screen...
After the installation it didn't work well and I tried everything to get the network manager to work properly...but never could.
Since I had all my files on network I decided to just do a complete installation.
The installation when smoothly and it is now running great.
I guess the upgrade files had a problem...I honestly do not know.
thanks for your help.
PROBLEM SOLVED - New install from a Live CD.
