win10 pro dual boot with ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04

On a Dell win10 pro laptop, is it possible to install ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04 alongside in a dual boot configuration? Does grub manage these setups successfully without any complications?

Yes. GRUB can chain boot Windows.

I suggest you install Bionic as it is the newest release and is LTS
