load problem during boot

Asked by bake

When I boot I get the menu, the first choice of which is to install. When I choose that (or anything else except mem test or boot from 1st hd) It tells me it is loading but, alas, tells me that forever. All the Functions at the bottom of the menu seem to work (until the so called loading begins).

Do you think your CD might be faulty?

Try generating a MD5 sum for the ISO you downloaded and compare it to that on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes.
This document should help you:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

If they're different, download the ISO again and burn a new CD.

Unfortunately, I trashed the ISO file after making the cd. That's where compulsive neatness gets you. I am downloading anew.
