simple-scan no connect.. brother DCP-L2540 DW on 16.04/64bit

the printer parts works s.. Br4 was installed for the scanner but has not worked..
simple scan does not connect..
i just want the scanner to work.
brothermfc/sane-driver/scanner-just type make scanner..

got message need brscan-skey version 0.2.4.0
brsane config 2-q tells me I have a correctly configured registered scanner..
this is the Haswell chip set ;; I get Brother 4: bus 2, dev 1
sane is /user/lib64
I have not copied from /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib64 which some sites say to do? because this d/n make sense to me..
