Digital Media hardware no reconocido

Tengo Ubuntu 8.04 (soy nuevo usando ubuntu), se lo instale a una laptod Hp dv 1000. tiene un lector de tarjetas extraibles Digital media. y al momento de insterar una memporia pro duo extraible no abre carpeta de fotos y no crea carpeta temporal en Media. que puedo hacer?

Las tarjetas Memory Stick sólo son reconocidas por cierto tipo de lectores, según el chip que tengan.

Según parece el suyo no está soportado. Adjunto un texto que escribí hace poco al respecto.
