How to get more than 70 fps on glxgears with 945GM chip?
Hi,
I'm fairly new to ubuntu and I'm using a thinkpad t60. However, I'm getting extremely low frame rates (around 67 at first count then dropping to around 60 on subsequent counts) on glxgears with my intel 945GM graphics chip. I've tried googling all over but there's no solutions at all. I have tried installing the intel drivers from synaptic, but they don't seem to have any effect.
Further info:
glxinfo tells me I don't have direct rendering enabled.
lspci tells me that I have an intel 945GM chip, so I'm sure it's the right one.
this is my entire xorg.conf (after dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg from recovery mode and minus the comments):
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
EndSection
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Monitor "Configured Monitor"
Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection
The xorg.conf looks a little lacking, but I don't want to play with it too much in case I break something. At the moment, my computer is running very slowly and virtually all graphics are taking a very long time to load. Is there some way I can improve my graphics performance somehow?
