stupid typo

i was tryn to mount my drive and like a dumbarse i mounted d:\ insted of d:/ and now i keep getting an error "cannot mount volume, mount_point cannot contain the following characters: newline G_DIR_SEPARATOR (usually /) and well it wont let me change the mounting setting unless its mounted so how can i fix this

Can you unmount and then try again?

i used the computer window and right clicked and went to mount and then to the drive properties after it mounted to desktop but it didnt get a drive letter and it is un mounted now and i can remount it till the drive path is fixed

Can you please tell me what did you do when mounting the device?
Please give me the exact steps you followed.

i went to places/computer when the window opened up i double clicked on the drive it mounted it to the desktop but didnt speify a drive letter so i went to the drives properties and went to the drive tab clicked settigs and made the mount point d:\ then un mounted and tryd to mount to the d and it came up with the error

Blimey. I usually prefer gui ways too but it sounds like you really need a command line for this. Much easier i suspect. The terminal console is ...
Applications menu on top-taskbar - Accessories - Terminal

Terminal/Command window/console has a handy "predictive text" feature, just type Tab or double click it while typing and you'll see either lists of options or it'll complete up to the point where options exist. Also the up arrow works even further back than your current login. Amazing stuff.

ok well after a lil more research and some help from a friend of mine i was told it was a gconf-editor needed problem and its now repaired if any 1 needs more help for this problem hes a site from this help forum with more in depth info https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-mount/+bug/107668 thanks fpr the help
