Headphones don't work with Ubuntu 8.10
Hello. I am a total newbie at Ubuntu, and I seem to be fumbling along somehow without killing my laptop yet. I cannot get the headphones to work in my laptop, but I have no problems at all with my speakers. I plug in my headphones, and the speakers don't work. I unplug the headphones, and the speakers work. I have no clue what that is about. I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4656 with a Realtek ALC861-VC installed for sounds. The thing is, I've tried different music players, like Rhythmbox and Audacious, to no avail. Similar thing occurs when I watch movies using the Totem Movie Player. After installing the Ubuntu, I had no sound problems either with the speakers, just the headphones. If anyone might have a clue what the problem is, answers/guesses would be appreciated. If I'm doing something wrong, correction would also be appreciated. Thanks!
