Asked by Peter Larson

I'm trying to download videocard drivers from nVidia, but the little "you have chosen to open this, what do you want to do with it" window opens and i click save file and nothing happens. ive also tried to download thunderbird 2 and several pictures ive found, but "save image as" and "save link as" dont work either

Do you have write permission in the folder where you are trying to save the files?

By default firefox downloads to your desktop. You can find this by going to Places --> Desktop, or Places --> Home --> Desktop folder.

I would recommend however that you do not install the nvidia driver from the nvidia site. Instead follow this guide:-

thanks guys. apparently i hadnt specified where firefox was supposed to put the downloads. the default was set as the desktop but for some reason it wasnt sending them there. i went in and just specified the path Places --> Desktop and now it works.
Thanks
