how to add installed package to Application menu

Asked by jacek

Hi,

I just installed a package GIP ( IP Calculator) and the only way to start it is from CLI by typing gip. Is there a way to add this program to the Application menu, if yes then please tell me how? Also where did this program get installed, In which directory does it reside?

thanks,
Jacek

use system->preferences->main menu
move to menu you want for adding you program to ...... press new menu item button
provide details such as command you use to invoke the program , name for menu item etc.

programs get installed in usr/bin usually or /opt in some cases
