how to change resolution to 1078 by 768
all it has is 480 by 640

You need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and add 1078x768 to your default resolutions
$sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Save it then use Ctrl-Alt-Backspace

I recommend you copy your original xorg.conf so if you get a CLI after the display fails to refresh you can just copy it back over.
