Dual Booting W-XP and Ubuntu 8.10

Asked by Ranger01

Using Desktop edition Ubuntu 8.10 CD.
Instructions at 'https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/switching/installing-partitioning.html'
state: You must choose the Manually edit partition table option.
Do these instructions apply to Ubuntu 8.10, or should one accept the partitions
proposed in the first option?
