i am a new user of ubuntu 7.1 and there is no sound.

i have been always using windows on my HCL laptop which came with a pre installed windows vista.
i have downloaded ubuntu 7.1 from a torrent site.i am using it as a live cd.everything else is fine but there is no sound.i had no problems with the sound wit my windows vista but suddenly i am having problems with ubuntu 7.1.also i have checked that everything is unmuted.pls help me.

Hi There
The best option would be to download the latest Ubuntu 8.04 it may have the drivers for it. and all of the latest updates
