ethernet suddenly gone missing

please help

Ethernet connection is no more working
ifconfig doesn't even list my eth0 device

it show vmnet ,lo amd wlan0 connection only
it was working well yesterday but it no more start
when i start manual configuration throgh nm-applet
it also does not show eth0 hardware as if it is not present anymore

i recently installed vmware and after installing it network was workin fine
no problem was detected in lan connection
