Ayuda con mi splash screen

Hola compañero

Creo saber cual es tu problema pero necesitaria que mandaras todo el
contenido del archivo menu.lst el que esta localizado en
/boot/grub/menu.lst, posiblemente sea la instruccion vga=791que debistes
adicionar pero antes envia el contenido para verificarlo.

sudo apt-get install startupmanager

luego carga el splash que quieras a ver

SIRDERIGO: Dónde se supone que debo cargarlo?? En Sistema->Preferencias->Splash Screen no se puede. Continúa el mismo problema.

Quita de las opciones el texto vga=794 y luego guarda los cambios y
reinicia.
comenta como te fue.

Ya lo hice.
Simplemente cambió la resolución, pero sigue cargando en letras con fondo negro.
Probe de nuevo con Sistema->Preferencias->Splash Screen y todo sigue igual.

ya probastes desistalar el programa Splash Screen pero desintalalo completo
haz en terminal
sudo apt-get remore -purge gnome-splashscreen-manager
y renicia

Escribo eso y sale:
E: No se conoce la opción de línea de órdenes 'p' [ de -purge]
Algun error en el tipeado debiste cometer.

Muy bien. Con ese me ha ido mejor, ya salen las imágenes. Pero, ahora tengo un problema desde que instale ubuntu. Cuando carga, el monitor (un samsung LCD de 15 pulgadas) me dice que la resolución no es compatible y recomienda 1280x1024 60Hz. Yo doy un ajuste automático, pero esto sale siempre. ¿Cómo configuro eso?. Además, la parte en que la barrita se mueve de un lado a otro todo bien, pero en la parte que debería comenzar la crecer la barra, ya empieza a cargar como terminal hasta que sale la ventana de entrada (de selección de usuarios)
Les agradezco por la ayuda ya brindada y les pido que me ayuden también con esto, por favor.
