lost control bars

On my desktop de control bars are lost. I only see my wallpaper

Hi Frans,
to restore default panel please open a Terminal
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GnomeTerminal

with Alt+F2
navigate to Terminal

copy&paste following commands ##because case sensitive

gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel ##Enter
pkill gnome-panel ##Enter
