Wifi Light Blinking is off-putting

Asked by KyleWhittington

As question number #42824 asked - with no answer - Is it possible to stop the Wifi light from blinking at all. On my Dell 6400 notebook it was completely disabled (no light at all) in Hardy. Since upgrading to Ibex, it's flashing whenever there's activity - but it's actually annoying because it's quite a slow flash. Watching a movie or something over the wifi means a constantly slow flashing light below the screen. Is it possible to disable the light completely, or even to just make it permanently on and not show activity?

I realise it's typical - Hardy the light didn't work and people complained, now in Ibex the light does work but annoyingly :-)

I know it's a bit hackish, but a bit of duct tape can go a long way...

Yeah, this is also happening to my Dell 1525. Formerly in Hardy, the wifi light problem was corrected by typing into a terminal - sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-16-generic

However, upgrading to Ibex makes the light intermittently remain solid (for about 15-20 seconds), followed by blinking for about 15-20 seconds, roughly. Its not a big deal, but id like to either get this fixed, or shut the light off altogether.
