Alternate install CD download is corrupt

When ever I download a Ubuntu or Kubuntu Alternate CD, it always recieves corrupt packages, and interfers with the installation. During installation, it always says that some files are corrupt, or it can't download the package.

I just want to know:
-Does anyone else get this problem, or is it karma?

-Does the regular Desktop Install CD have his problem?

-Do I need an internet connection to install Ubuntu?

You don't need a connection to install Ubuntu...but it does help.

.iso files do get corrupted during transmission or burning on occasion.

You can use the MD5 Checksum option on the CD to check if your CD is valid - check the number against the sum posted on the download page. If they are the same, your CD should work just fine.

- Please check the md5sum of your downloaded Ubuntu .iso image file, here the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM howto, and compare with http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.04.1/MD5SUMS

- Burn it on a cd rom, be sure to burn your cd at lower speed you can do usually 4x here an howto https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto and activate the "verify data" of your burning software.
