periodic problem with logitech wireless mouse

Asked by sally

My logitech V220 wireless mouse periodically loses the connection to the usb port and no longer operates. To fix the
problem I need to go to a Windows machine and download a logitech connection program. I have tried to use
the connection program with the Wine windows emulator on my Ubuntu laptop but it doesn't work. Is there some
way to reconnect the mouse using my Ubuntu laptop?

If logitech don't provide a Linux version of the program, then it probably won't work. The USB mouse needs to communicate with X, the part of Ubuntu that handles desktops, mice, keyboards, etc. WINE allows you to run some Windows programs, but probably won't help much for that sort of talking to hardware.

If your mouse is reasonably common, someone else has probably had the same problem--try searching with the model of mouse and "ubuntu" to see if anyone's worked out another solution.

Can you help with this problem?
