How Can I Speed Up Bootup Without CD Drive Being Checked?

Everytime at bootup, I feel that my bootup slows everytime it checks for my CD drive. Do you think that maybe I should disable it in the BIOS? Can that speed up bootup by disabling the detection of my CD drive?

It is probably a good idea to first find out what is really happening. If you boot without having ¨splash quiet¨ in the command line you will see text details of the boot processes. This will show you any errors and may provide insight into why it is ¨hanging¨ during boot.

On start press ´ESC´ to get into the grub boot menu.
Press ´e´ to edit the commands before booting.
Select the kernel line and press ´e´ to edit the command line and remove ´quiet splash´ and hit enter
Press ´b´ to boot

WWSmith, thanks for the reply. My computer doesn't hang. At bootup, my computer always checks the CD drive. This wastes time. I want a way to eliminate ubuntu from checking my CD drive at bootup in order to speed up bootup. That's all

Please enter into bios and change the boot order of your boot devices...
or better disable if there any options the boot from cd...

Marcobra, if I enter the bios and disable the CD check at bootup, will that be a problem if in the future my computer crashes and I need to boot from the ubuntu CD? What if I can't boot and I need to reinstall ubuntu from the CD?

Bios is embedded into your pc is not related to any operative system.
So, if you must boot from cd you must simply re enter into bios and set as first boot device your cd...
