Screen Resolution

Asked by 37h4n

Originally i had an 7600GS 256mb graphics card on my computer but the screen resolution was only 800x600 so i took the graphics card out and it now runs at 1024x768 but i know my screen is capable of 1280x1024 what can i do to get the better screen resolution?

Yes I cant see why not just go into the screen resolution program.
System>preferences>screen resolution.
Then select the resolution that you want.

Hope that helps

or you might need to install nvidia-glx-new so that it shows other screen resolutions.

I found out how to solve the problem what i did was use the terminal and type "sudo displayconfig-gtk" and thXen enter password, then select and when i selected the model of my monitor i just selected a monitor that went up to 1280x1024.

There is a problem with 9.04 and 9.10 in not being able to adjust monitor/screen resolution. No more "Screen & Graphics" menu. Can someone, or many someones, provide a way to fix this. It really diminishes the otherwise excellent reputation and usability of Ubuntu and this is a shame.
There have been some recommendations made in the Forum but they are not very clear and do not seem to be effective. This is serious folks.
