Live CD problems

Asked by J.Seiscio

Hey i've never used any OS other than windows, but i'm very interested to trying out Ubuntu. I can't seem to get the live cd to work. I downloaded the 6.06 version, burnt it onto a cd no problem and booted it up, but after i choose install or run in the menu, i get a bunch of errors all the way down my screen that all say " Unknown Interrupt or Fault at EIP 00000060 c01002b1 000002b0" and then it restarts my computer. I've tried running in safe mode also, but it still does the same thing. i checked my cd for errors, and it said nothing was wrong. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, like i said, i'm really new to this so i may be doing something wrong

System Specs are below:

Compaq Presario
Windows XP Home Edition SP2
Intel Celeron 2.53 Ghz
376 MB RAM
Intel 82845GE Graphics Controller

Have you tried installing via the Alternate CD?

I've also heard that adding acpi=off to the boot parameters may resolve this.
