Is there a wired internet connection you could use to download the latest updates i.e. those that have arrived since Hardy Heron was release in April?

If you can then open a terminal window (Applications menu, accessories) and try ...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Then restart without the wired internet connection and try your wireless again.

Hello
I went to System Adm Hardware drivers and found that BCM was in use......I highlighted it and this message appeared....While this driver itself is free software, it relies on proprietry firmware which cannot be shipped with the operating system. Your hardware will not work without the firmware.
Would appreciate any further suggestions
regards
John
