ubuntu 8.04 won't shutdown or restart

Hi
Ever since i upgraded to 8.04 i have had problems when shutting the desktop or trying to reboot it. Sometimes it shuts down/restarts as it is suppose to but way to often it hangs with some lines about "Network Error".
any ideas?
