reinstalling hardy heron to a partition

Asked by John Wilson

My son reinstalled windows which wiped out GRUB loader.
I have my data on a partition on my hard drive.
If I reinstall Hardy Heron onto that partition will I loose my data?

If I understood right ubuntu is already installed and only grub is missing due to windows installation.
If this is the case, read here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/reinstall-ubuntu-grub-bootloader-after-windows-wipes-it-out/

Anyway, if you install ubuntu on a partition, it'll certainly delete all data on that partition.
