I can not change my screen resolution. ?

The updates for WinLIn came through which is OK. I restarted my computer and I can get to all systems. My screen resolution is hung on 640 x 480 I cannot change this. please help? thanks Mike. This setting is set as a DEFAULT and will not change. How do I change this? thanks Mike
