i know my pass i dont know my user. What do i do?

have you an other user-acct? use it && sudo edit /etc/passwd
NO: have you root access? edit /etc/passwd
NO: boot from CD, mount root-part, edit /mnt-point/etc/passwd
NO: reinstall :(

Hello

Boot into recovery mode (2nd option in grub) and then

you have to find your username.. look in the /home folder. All users have a folder equal to their name..

ls /home
