Can't install tar files

Hello,
       I'm using ubuntu 8.04 in my dell XPS laptop, i tried install " 83660-imetalV5f.tar " first i extract it by menu, in side the folder i didnt find the configure file.It had 3 folders and a file...

pls help me..........

usually there are installation instructions. Look for an install or readme file.
