wifi won't connect

Asked by davidrachlin

I have an internal Broadcom 4318 wireless card which will not detect any networks. I have tried doing the firmware update a million times, but nothing comes up for the ESSID when I run ifconfig or iwconfig (i can't remember which).

I also have an external Motorola card with a Broadcom 4306 chipset which works fine when I drop it into my cardbus slot.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

have you tried sudo iwlist <your wlandevice name like wlan0 or so> s in Terminal?
Seems that Broadcom makes some Errors:

Do you have a router at home? if so, do you have another cpu w/ internet connection?

yes... I have a router at home and when I'm using my Broadcom 4306 PCMCIA card I can connect fine. But when I'm using my internal wireless which is a broadcom 4318, it will not recognize the router.

If you have another cpu at home log into your router and make sure broadcast ssid is ON. then try it again.

Can you help with this problem?
