cannot boot v7.04

downloaded v7.04 upgrade from v4.10. seemed to go well however when asked for restart and i clicked on the restart button nothing happened. Finally I powered down and restarted. Loads to the point where file check forced then asks for reboot again. This time file check clean but boot fails. nothing but bling cursor. ketboard appears to respond.
