installing wine is very simple :)
if you goto applications and add/remove programs. you can use the search box their to search for 'wine'. once you tick the appropriate package and press the apply changes button it will be installed. you don't have to goto websites and download to install programs here in the ubuntu world :)
you can find more information about installing programs here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware

and more information about wine here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine

once its installed how ever you can just double click on a .exe file to run it. not everything will work with wine though

I have Wine installed.

Wine creates an artificial "C" drive. If you put your .exe program into the artificial "C" drive, you may be able to access and run it?

On my system the artificial "C" drive is located at:

/home/geo/.wine/drive_c

where my user name is geo. On your system it may be in a similar location.

To find files or directories in Ubuntu whose name starts with a period (".") these are hidden files - just open the directory above it and then do a "Ctrl-H" to reveal the hidden files and directories.

That's how you might be able to find where the .wine directory is.

Hope this helps?
