How to set up Novatel Merlin v620 CDMA PCMCIA mobile broadband card in Ubuntu

Asked by Sheldon Muir

I am running Edgy and love it.

I need to be able to support my Verizon cell card. I have it running, but after 10-20 seconds, it crawls to a stop and disconnects.

Apparently there is an 'airtime' fix for this but requires a kernel rebuild.

I would request that this module get fixed/distributed in Edgy and upcoming Ubuntu distributions.

Thank you for listening.

You may want to file a bug for this, so that the developers see it.

Kernel 2.6.19+ onwards carry an updated airprime module that will work without problems. Kernels prior to 2.6.19 would need this module backported. Feisty (running on 2.6.20) does work with a v620 without issues (I use it also :-).

I did read it, and then did install Fesity, but don' t works. In fact, The device work only for few seconds, anyone have any idea of how to resolve this problem, I did open a BUG in the Kernel 2.6.20 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/108177

Hello Rolando,

I very much doubt this is a kernel issue; nevertheless, I will work on this bug with you.

Hi,

Please try this setup guide, which is up-to-date and provided by Sprint:

http://www.sprint.com/assets/downloads/linux/pdfs/Sprint_Mobile_broadband_Setup_Guide_for_Linux.pdf

It should work in Ubuntu 8.04 or Ubuntu 8.10.

Hope it helps,

Regards,

Mark
