how do i add fonts in 8.04

Asked by Rick Lange

ok...i've read all of the questions about adding fonts...

i've tried to add the fonts manually
...i dont have the permission...
i've tried the system>prefrances>apearance>fonts>details>go to font folder
...the "go to font folder" button does not exist...
i've tried using natilus
...i get error messages...

im wracking my brain here...and is quite frustrating, this being my first real attempt at linux...i enjoy it...and im really starting to catch on...but i just cant wrap my head around this issue...btw...the fonts i want to add are .ttf ...

Glad you're enjoying it - I put fonts in a directory in my home using nautilus as I would then copy the fonts into to it.

With nautilus open do Ctrl+H to show hidden folders - then make a folder with name .fonts - the . is important it makes it a hidden folder.

Then copy the fonts into your new folder.

Open a terminal and run this command

 sudo fc-cache -fv

That should be it - goodluck with the linux :)
