To use rpm files you need to use alien but there are no guarantees that it will work without problem

There is a gotmail in the repos whichwould probably be easier

sudo apt-get install gotmail

or

sudo apt-get install alien

then use alien to change to deb

alien packagename ( might need root rights)

then install the deb
