I have already reported this bug - https:/
If you feel that the bug report is correct, can you please do all us 4318 users a favor and changed the bug to Confirmed (and leave a note on the bug report)?
I've tried all sorts of methods to get the wireless to work, but without success.
Thanks, and if you happen to find a solution, please let us know!

Confirmed.
I believe some sort of Firmware is required.
I will have to download that under Windows and transfer to Ubuntu from s
Flash drive?
Many thanks.

Yes, the firmware is installed using b43-fwcutter, which is the program in my bug report. This will install the firmware for you, but it doesn't seem to allow you to connect to the wireless networks, though it does see them. If you install b43-fwcutter from Synaptic, it should walk you through installing the firmware.
There are guides out there for using windows drivers under a program called ndiswrapper, but from what I have seen, this doesn't work in Hardy Heron either.
Try installing the firmware with b43-fwcutter, and if it doesn't allow you to connect to wireless networks (I don't expect it will, but try anyway), then can you please confirm the bug report I linked in my first post? This will allow developers to start working on a fix for our problem.
Thanks,
-Connor

naufal, does the wireless work on your card? As in, are you able to actually connect to wireless networks, or can you only see them but not connect?

Connor Imes:
I can see my ESSID but there is a note to say "not associated" so it seems
there is a connection problem.
Also, re Naufal'ssuggestion, how does one "wipe out the previous device"
so that 8.04 dtects afresh.
Thank you.

I'm not sure what the Not Associated means, but in the bug report I filed and linked in the first response, I was also able to see networks but not connect. It seems that our hardware just doesn't have proper support in Hardy.

I understand, but as far ask I know, there is no fix to this problem yet, that is why I filed the bug report awhile back - https:/
If you are willing, can you visit that bug, make a comment on it about having the same problem, and then change the status from New to Confirmed? This will help developers get started on fixing it.

I have reinstalled 8.04 afresh from a CD and this time using a wired
connection I was able to enable Broadcom from the program itself.
My Broadcom is now enabled and working OK.
Thank you.
