Acer Travelmate 4101WLMI needs noapic
My Travelmate 4101WLMI (915GM graphics version) laptop does not boot (or install) without the noapic option. Colin Watson recommended that I file a bug with the output of ’sudo dmidecode’, saying "it may eventually be possible to blacklist APIC interrupt routing on your laptop."

I just installed the Dapper Beta, and I did not need to add any extra boot options, so this can be closed. I don't know how it happened, but I am very pleased.

Sorry for not following up earlier. I believe this was bug 35795, which was fixed in linux-source-2.6.15 2.6.15-20.30:
* 35795: Keeps the kernel from panicing when it notices that an IOAPIC is
reported, but not really present. Patch applied, taken from upstream
2.6.16.
I'm not sure that I can close this support request, but I think you should be able to using the links at the top left of the page.

Incidentally, to attach a file in Malone (as opposed to this support tracker), file the bug and then use the "Add Attachment" link.

Sorry, I can't see how to close this.
At least when i submitted this, and maybe now too, the difference between bug and support request was not clear, and I just tried to do what Launchpad seemed to want.
Can you help with this problem?
Provide an answer of your own, or ask Murray Cumming for more information if necessary.
