ACLs over NFS in 6.10

Asked by Aidan Dixon

I need to be able to use ACLs over NFS as a client to a Solaris 9 server machine. Ubuntu 6.10's 2.6.17 generic kernel build doesn't include the nfs_acl module all the generic kernel release of 2.6.17 does. (I was using a generic 2.6.17 kernel incl. nfs_acl until moving recently to Ubuntu 6.10 from Slackware 10.2.)

You're right, this is also not turned on for Feisty's 2.6.20 kernel.

I don't know if there is an easy trick to get the nfs_acl module, but you can get the linux source via 'apt-get install linux-source' and build your own kernel from there, with the appropriate modules activated.

Can you help with this problem?
