Purchase advice: Looking for Wifi PCMCIA or USB

I would like to get a wireless adapter with the best rating for ubuntu. It must be either PCMCIA or USB and use supported open source drivers. No NDISwrapper, no madwifi setup, no extra packages or third party downloads. No configuration, just install Ubuntu, pop in and connect to wifi, anything more would be too much for the person this is for.
I know that intel has great chips that are integrated into most laptops and work seamlessly with ubuntu, but I need an external one that will work out of the box with Gutsy or Hardy. Are there any good recommendations?
