BBC iPlayer failure under Hardy - and solution maybe!
PROBLEM:
I have BBC's iPlayer which I normally run in standalone mode. I have/had Flash 9 up and running for some time. iPlayer ran until I upgraded to Hardy.
The sound that I get through - I am using it for listening to the radio - is distorted to the point of not being comprehensible. Clearly it shouldn't be like that. It isn't a problem with NDIS etc otherwise it wouldn't work at all.
Hardy means that I have FFX beta3 AND a new kernel to deal with. Does anyone know if removing FFX beta3 and go back to 2.0.0.14 solves the matter? Do you have another solution?
Thanks,
Peter
PS I realise that this is not strictly an Ubuntu problem, BUT it does affect a lot of people and therefore usability to some.
SOLUTION:
I clicked on the standalone version again...this time it loaded MPlayer as the driver - as opposed to the standalone RealPlayer version (don't ask me - it did!) it worked and the sound is OK if hardly hifi, display leaves a lot to be desired.
If anyone from the BBC is reading this, can you give us the official solution please!!
