Bad TimeZone support during installation

Asked by Elbarbudo

During installation on a Compaq nc6000 / XP pro dual boot,
the TZ info is incomplete : it shows only Europe/Paris TZ and does not take care of the DST.
Install does not take in account the fact that the hardware clock is in GMT.
Hence during install I got 1 hour in advance ( 15h instead of 14h )
And when rebooting to XP, I ended with 2 hours in advance (16h instead of 14h)

I know that these settings can be set after installation but this will be cleaner to do it corectly during installation.
( as in debian stable (etch) I once installed on this machine without problem )

Hello

Reconfiguring tzdata could help you out

1. Open a terminal window by going to Applications => Accessories => Terminal
2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
3. Follow the directions in the terminal.

Hope this helps.

Bhavani Shankar.
