fglrx and dual link dvi

Asked by Michael Flaig

Need help to get Dual Link DVI to work with ATI X1900 on Edgy or Feisty
This is x86_64 platform

Status is that with single link DVI the CinemaHD does run at 1280x800. Fast, with fglrx, but without 3d accelration.
With Dual Link DVI the Cinema should be able to run on it's native resolution of 2560x1600, but it doesn't.

I already tried edgy and feisty.
- Edgy with self compiled 2.6.19.1 and Feisty kernel image 2.6.19-7
- Feisty with 2.6.19-7-generic

My progress so far is documented here (incl. xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log): https://secure.netzblock.org/helpdesk/macpro/wiki/CinemaDisplayDocumentation

In general I have the problem that I cannot find any documentation on how dual link dvi is correctly set up with ATI's fglrx driver. ATI Driver release notes only state that dual link dvi works since 8.18.x - nothing more.

Any help / tips / links appreciated

Thanks :)

Dual Link DVI works with Option "ForceMonitors" "tmds2i"
The problem is more the Sync and Refresh rate. As you can read in my wiki, I have create a modline for 2560x1600@60hz with a little success. It shows something but not very nice. will supply a photo soon.

Any success with this Michael?

I must admit I'm rather confused. I don't see any Xorg log file and the only Xorg.conf file is for an NVIDIA card......
