Sorry, I don't understand you problem... Do you have Ubuntu Server or Kubuntu? Your system is installed or you are trying to install it?

I inadvertently installed what I think is a Linux server with Synaptic manager. When I boot the system it scrolls through a bunch os messages that I think are supposed to be part of the boot-up process. Then it comes to a part that reads: patty login:...... I type in my user name & then it asks me for my password & I type that in then it goes to another I think command and I don't know what to type in there. It reads:
bunjee@patty:~$ then a blinking cusor. Above that it reads: You have new mail.
Well, I can't even boot into the system because of my lack of knowledge about these commands.
Can you picture the problem better now?
Danny J.

"It's not a bug, it's a feature." ---> server version of Ubuntu comes without graphical interface -- http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatIsUbuntu/serveredition

Can you help with this problem?
