Problem with Webcam SPC 600 NC

Hey!

I have bought WEB cam SPC 600 NC a long time ago bassicaly in January 2006 when I steal had Windows XP Professional, as I had several security issues I have installed Ubuntu the installation was pretty easy but settings thinks up is pretty hard.

I would like to set up my camera SPC 600 NC as listed in the summary, I have installed EasyCam 2 and it says I don t have any machine pluged in when going to System Administration and going throuth HAL DEVICE MANAGER I found my device listen so Ubuntu read it as pluged in, so why doesn t it work, I tried to use Google and I searched for Web cam SPC 600 NC drivers for Ubuntu didn t come up with anything, I hope you guys could help me.

Plug the camera in, run the command "dmesg > output.txt" and "gedit output.txt" and paste the dmesg here to us.

It looks like if your webcam is not supported by any driver. It should afaik be one of the Phillips webcams covered by the pwc which your Ubuntu already has. Perhaps you should try using newer version of the driver because they keep adding new hardware support.

Install package "build-essential" using the Synaptic. After that, follow the instructions ("kernel 2.6 + module" part) at
http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/INSTALL.en
but rather than using "pwc-10.0.9-rc1.tar.bz2", try the following:
http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/snapshots/pwc-v4l2-20061217-042701.tar.bz2

This havent helped me to get my camera work, thank you anyway, I m going to sell the cam on the web and buy a new one, do you now any good.
