transfer of music files is missing on playback

umm..............embarrassing as this is to report, my alleged p/w does not seem to be working in the terminal...(dammit)
...is there another way to do this and/or how can i find/reset my p/w?

You won't get feedback as you type the password but it is being accepted.

I'm sorry- I don't understand what you mean...

You have 2 physical disks.

sda has one Ext4 partition and one lot of swap space. Probably the system disk with the running OS on it.

sdb is similar (which is interesting). But which partition has the media which you are having issues?

the 250 gig is a drive i took out of my old computer when the motherboard fried. That is the HD i'm transferring FROM. As I stated before, as long as the drive stays plugged in and connected to my laptop, the music files play perfectly. When i disconnect or shut off the drive, some songs in the player no longer play and the player skips over these and marks them with an "X" (as in wont play). I hope this provides you with the info you need. Thank you.

How do you think that banshee would be able to play files from a drive that is not connected?

To be able to play all songs you have to copy or move them to directories on the hard disk that is always connected, and have the references in banshee point to the files on the internal disk.

Manfred- many of the files had already been transferred. However, I will take your advice under consideration and retest the player (and files) after everything has been moved. Thank you for your suggestion.
