Cant Install Ubuntu or even run a live session

Asked by tahirh

Hi
I'm have a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop with an Intel Core Duo 2ghz, 512mb ram, VIA Chrome9 graphics card. When i try running a live session i get to a point where i see the background and the mouse pointer, then the screen goes funny and i can see the ubuntu logo like 4 places on the screen (like the resolution is not right so its displaying it weirdly) then the screen goes blank. Nothing happens after this. I figure it might be the graphics card that needs special drivers or something. i tried changing the resolutions in the cd start up menu but nothing helps. please help!!

tahirh,

Have you tried to boot in safe graphics mode?
Its usually the second option in the startup menu.

Have you tried the alternative install cd?

You will have to download a new .iso. Just check the check box below the start download button.
