(spotify) libgcrypt11 no longer provided in 15.04?

Asked by David González

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I noticed after installing Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 from the daily image that libgcrypt11 is no longer in the Ubuntu repos in vivid, at least that's what `apt search libgcrypt` tells me.

Note that this package is needed for spotify to run.

Let me know if I should file a report or post in specific mailing list.

I suggest you report a bug. Vivid is not ready and not stable.

Vivid contains an updated version libgcrypt20 which should serve the same purposes.

Spotify wants libgcrypt11, not libgcrypt20. It won't run, I already tried symlinking it with libgcrypt20 it just throws an error that "GCRYPT_1.2 is not found" after it tries to validate it.

Seems that you are not the first one: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Mac-and/spotify-error-while-loading-shared-libraries-libgcrypt-so-11/m-p/970485
I think that is something where spotify has to work on.

A possible workaround is to manually download .deb package for libgcrypt11 and install it with dpkg.

wget http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libg/libgcrypt11/libgcrypt11_1.5.4-2ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i libgcrypt11_1.5.4-2ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb
