black screen sometime

I have a Dell Dimension E310 I power up I get the dell start screen, then the Ubuntu start screen, then it goes black, not getting to log in to enter a password. Things I see and find is, bios setting if I turn off the Integrated NIC I get to the log in but have no internet connection. I also see in the boot sequence that the "onboard network controller" is (not present) don't know if this info helps but better to give too much info than not enough. This all started when i powered up and got a "Floppy Diskette Seek Failure on Boot" I did this https://youtu.be/HtIUsE5PJzM and now I'm beating my head on a wall, can anyone help.

ok I just found out you can up-date a BIOS I never know that.

I placed the info on here. Most likely I am out of date since I never know there were up-dates for it.
What I don't get is how can I up-date it if I can't get on the web.
I will do more looking around to see if I can find answers and hope maybe you can help too.

I have no clue if this is newer and will It work if it says "windows"? ( I hate that W word lol)
I have it on a USB stick and will wait to see what you say before I try to install it. Don't want to try and stick in something that is not right and will need to know how to install it if it is the right one.

If you compare the BIOS version number on your own system with the latest version on the dell support web pages, you will see that you have already the newest one (A04 from April 2006).

Can you try changing some BIOS settings for the network controller? It seems to me that this one might be the culprit.

Can you help with this problem?
