black screen

I have a dell dimension E310 it turns on, the dell start screen comes on, then the Ubuntu start screen come on and after that it goes black. No log in.

Somehow I got it by changing some of the bios settings. I think the power surge, then power out I had in the neighborhood waked me. Lol
